Physics
Aristotle
Aristotle works out what nature, change, place, time and cause are by argument alone, and arrives at the four causes and the unmoved mover. Wrong about a great deal, and the framework Europe reasoned inside for roughly two thousand years.
Why you should read this
This treatise laid out the framework of motion, causation and nature that dominated Western natural philosophy until the Scientific Revolution, when figures like Galileo defined themselves against it. Best for readers tracing the history of science rather than looking for physics as currently practiced.
